Lumbar Distraction (Decompression)
Manual lumbar intersegmental decompression is a non-surgical, doctor-controlled, hands-on spinal manipulation treatment performed with the patients lying on a specially designed chiropractic table. This table permits the effective administration of flexion-distraction and decompression adjustment and manipulation.
Henrico Chiropractor Dr. James McLelland performs Flexion-distraction and decompression to help relieve pain and return patients to their desired quality of life by:
1) Dropping intradiscal pressure to as low as -192 mmHg.
2) Widening the spinal canal foramina by up to 28%.
3) Reducing pressure on the spinal nerves.
4) Gently returning motion to the spinal joints.
This technique is appropriate for conditions causing lower back and leg pain. It also reduces pain attributed to
1) Disk herniations
2) Ruptured disk
3) Facet syndrome
4) Stenosis
5) Sponylolisthesis
This procedure is highly effective and well researched. It is considered a conservative treatment and should always be considered prior to undergoing lower back surgery. Henrico Chiropractor Dr. James D. McLelland delivers this treatment for patients with disk herniations, back pain, stenosis and degenerative disk disease. The majority of his local patients live and work in Glen Allen VA 23059 and Short Pump VA 23233.
